2023 HAZARD HUNT: MILESTONE 2 CRITERIA

HAZARD HUNT is an awareness campaign where our programs identify and report at least one hazard in their work area. The hazards can be environmental, health, or safety-related.

Hazard Risk Reduction

  • Demonstrate how you are fixing the problem or reducing the risk by applying the hierarchy of controls.
  • Take a video or photos (1 video or 3 photos limit) of how the hazard was eliminated, mitigated, or controlled to document the issue. Make sure the photo file size is 1 MB or larger and include people (remove CAC cards and IDs!)
  • Write a summary with the who, what, when, where, and why you are addressing the issue and how the hierarchy of controls was applied to eliminate, mitigate, or control the hazard.
  • Submit the video and/or photos and summary before the August 11 deadline.

JUDGING YOUR HAZARD

JUDGING CRITERIA

Your Milestone 2 submission will be judged by the following criteria:

Do(es) the hazard(s) submission(s)

  1. Include the the hierarchy of controls used to mitigate and control the hazard?
  2. Include pictures or videos to show and demonstrate how the hazard was eliminated, mitigated or controlled?

Does The write-up mention:

  • The possible reduction in severity as a result of the hierarchy of control used to eliminate, mitigate, or control the hazard causing injury or environmental damage
  • The possible likelihood of reduction in the hazard causing injury or environmental damage after the hierarchy of control is applied
  • Projected positive impacts to operations or delivery of services as a result of the hierarchy of control used to eliminate, mitigate, or control the hazard identified
SCORING CRITERIA

SHOW AND TELL

Check this out! Take out your smartphone and start recording. Keep it simple and tell us about the safety hazard you found. REMEMBER OPSEC! Only record and photograph where you are allowed and remove all CAC and ID cards.

Not comfortable with video? Then show us in pictures! Tell the story with people and captions. Again, REMEMBER OPSEC! Only record and photograph where you are allowed and remove all CAC and ID cards.
